Course Maps & Transition Area
Celebration Plaza, in the heart of White River State Park, will offer a beautiful setting for the transition area. This large, grassy area is only steps from the swim exit and provides a great location to start and finish each leg of the triathlon and duathlon. |
Transition Area
Duathlon
The first run of the Duathlon will complete 2 miles of the run course. The second loop will be the same 5k loop the triathletes complete (See course map under the "Run" section below).
The
Swim
The swim portion will take place in the White River State Park Canal. The Canal is about 40 feet wide and 4 feet deep. Both Olympic and Sprint distance events will be a point to point swim. Faster swimmers will start first with slower swimmers going last.
There will be an Elite division for the Olympic distance that will start first. If you start in the Elite division, you will be competing for the overall awards and will be ineligible for age group awards. After the Elite division starts, swimmers will start in 2 second intervals. The sprint distance event will begin at 8:30am after all the Olympic distance swimmers have finished.
The Bike
Ride through a scenic and fairly flat 12.5 mile loop (Olympic distance will complete two loops). The course will take you through downtown streets, along White River and Riverside Parkway, and around parts of the IU Indianapolis campus. Volunteer and police protection will be provided throughout the entire course.
The Run
This fast, flat and scenic course will take you alongside White River, up to 10th Street, and then back along the east of the river. The distance of the course is 3.1 miles (Olympic distance will complete 2 loops). There will be a water and Gatorade station at every mile.
